How copy-and-paste fonts actually work

A small tour of Unicode, font files, and why your letters survive a paste.

Guides
01

A character is not a font

A regular letter A is one character. A mathematical bold A is a different character with a different code point. This tool exchanges one for the other. The app you paste into chooses a font to draw it, which is why the same result can look a little different on a phone and a laptop.

02

Start with the words, then choose a style

Type a short phrase in the studio and compare several styles. The profile preview helps with line breaks and visual balance, but always paste into the destination app before deciding. Its font, line height, and character limit can change the result.

03

Not every alphabet has every character

Many sets were created for mathematics or notation. They are not complete decorative versions of every language. We preserve unsupported letters, accents, and punctuation rather than guessing. Mixed styles are sometimes the most faithful result.

04

When to use a real font instead

For a website, document, or designed image, ordinary text with a real font usually gives better control and accessibility. Copy-and-paste characters are most useful for a small accent in a field where you cannot change the formatting.
